Challenge 2.0 - Church Communication and Social Networking
Web 2.0 is shorthand for the Internet having become a social network that is characterised by user generated content, mash-ups and broad-band multimedia applications. Social networks emerge in this environment and change communication. The distribution of content can no longer be controled, institutions dissolve into networks. In order to communicate effectively the Good News the Church will need to adapt its communication strategy. This Conference will explore this Challenge and analyse what Web 2.0 means for the Christian Church and for Christian Communications.
ECIC is the network for webmasters and webpastors in European Churches. It's an ekumenical body and participants come from many different churches and denominations.
ECIC invites European web pastors, editors, webmasters, and other new media experts to join the 13th European Christian Internet Conference in Lyon, France. Christian web workers from all over Europe will meet there from 13 - 17 June 2008.
The aim is to exchange experiences about working with the Internet. We also seek to arrange co-operation in the area of this "new media". Past conferences have proved to be very fruitful and to fulfill a vital role for the Christian Internet presence. The Conferences are not designed as "talk shops" but as "working conferences".
